The Drought is OVER! Tonight at the Helix Water District Board Meeting, the board adopted Resolution 23-18 declaring an END Water Shortage Response Level 2 (mandatory up to 20% reduction). We are not in any water shortage level, thus, you do not need to continue to cut back, however, continue permanent water use efficiency measures that are always in effect.
Helix Water District Rate Adjustment for 2023- 2026 (4 years), you should have received a notice of proposed changes to fixed charges and variable charges. https://www.hwd.com/DocumentCenter/View/1605 The rates will be adjusted with a maximum cap of 3.9% each year (Average Helix User, 21 Units). However, we will look at water rates every year and this number may come down, from the use of the local water we have received this year. Please note there will be a Community Meeting at Helix Water District Administration Office Board Room, 7811 University Avenue, La Mesa, Next Week on April 12, at 6pm, you can come to the meeting or watch and ask questions via zoom, Meeting ID: 868 1534 1141, Password: 245575. There will be a 20 minute presentation on the rate adjustment and plenty of time to answer your questions and here any comments. But of course, if you have any questions you can also contact me. Also, San Diego County Water Authority is working on their Budget for 2024, with a projected water rate increase of 14%. The Helix Board took immediate action last month to let SDCWA know that the budget/rate increase needs to be reduced (see below attached letter).
